Black Crow and "Stop the Presses" at Bathurst Library.
On Wednesday 2 April 2025 21 ladies attended lunch at the Black Crow and judging by the chatter in the room everyone had a great time while getting to know one another better. The food was plentiful and very satisfying and Simon and his staff certainly looked after us.
After lunch we then walked to the Bathurst Library for the talk "Stop the Presses" by Kim Bagot Hiller. Kim spoke about the history of newspapers in the Bathurst area. The first published newspaper in Bathurst was the Bathurst Advocate published on 5 February 1948 and at one stage there were 3 newspapers in circulation! Can you believe?
We were also given a demonstration on the TROVE website which enables you to research activities, events etc of family members of days gone by. We left the library after a very enjoyable afternoon.
LUNCH AT JACK DUGGANS IRISH PUB - THURSDAY 20th MARCH 2025
23 Probus ladies attended lunch today and even though St Patrick's Day was celebrated earlier in the week had our own St Patrick's Day celebration. Some of the ladies wore green and many others wore green accessories. The menu consisted of many irish dishes and the meals looked very hearty.
After the meal and few ladies walked to Annie's Ice Parlour and would you believe we still had room for ice cream!!
