Celebrating 50 Years in Australia

In 2026, Probus will be reaching a significant milestone, marking 50 years of helping tens of thousands of older Australians stay engaged and connected. In fact, the very first Probus Club in Australia, being the Probus Club of Hunters Hill (established 3/2/1976) continues to provide the essential connections that seniors need in later life. New Zealand reached 50 years in 2024 with a wide range of celebrations across the country.

Throughout 2026, PSPL will be showcasing the benefits of joining Probus, encouraging older Australians to enjoy more social engagement within their communities. Commemorative events will begin with a celebratory morning tea function hosted by our first Australian Club, the Probus Club of Hunters Hill (Sydney) on February 3rd, 2026. We encourage all Clubs to mark this special day by having their own special morning tea, lunch, or activity recognising the birth of Probus in Australia.

Another key date for the national social program will be Thursday October 1st, being the start of Probus Month 2026. We hope that every Probus Club will participate in our National Probus Picnic/Lunch which will be widely promoted in the lead-up to October 1st.

Working groups across Australia have been established to develop a number of regional and national events. An innovative range of 50th Anniversary merchandise will also be produced and a special bottling of a fine French inspired luxury sparkling wine with an exclusive Probus 50th Anniversary label is currently available for pre-order.

2026 will be an amazing year for the Probus community, where all Clubs will have the opportunity to highlight the social connections they provide to so many members across Australia.

Merchandise

Our licensed supplier, Blue Moose Productions, has developed a range of 50th Anniversary merchandise that includes umbrellas, hats, and keyrings. This will be available for ordering in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, Clubs can order complimentary 50th Anniversary balloons and chocolates.

Balloons

Available in blue and gold with our 50th Anniversary logo. Ideal for celebrations and events throughout 2026. Maximum of 200 balloons per Club.

Postage cost of $10 for Australia and $12 for New Zealand.

Our Probus chocolates, which have been specifically designed with the Probus logo, can be used at celebrations and membership drives. The first 100 chocolates are complimentary (per year per Club), with any additional orders sold at $25 per hundred and sold in quantities of 100.
