50th Anniversary Events

National

3 February 2026 – Official start of 50th Anniversary. Commemorative events will begin with a celebratory morning tea function hosted by our first Australian Club, the Probus Club of Hunters Hill’s (Sydney) on February 3rd, 2026. We encourage all Clubs to mark this special day by having their own special morning tea,  lunch or activity recognising the birth of Probus in Australia.

16 September, 26 September & 1 October 2026 – Sunshine Coast & Montville – Probus 50th Anniversary Tour, a five-day fully inclusive getaway featuring a scenic cruise from Pelican Waters to the Glasshouse Mountains, visits to the Ginger Factory, Eumundi Markets, Noosa Heads, and Australia Zoo, plus 4 nights’ accommodation at Mercure Sunshine Coast Kawana Waters, daily breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and guided touring. October 2026 – To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Probus, landmarks across Australia will be illuminated in blue and yellow at various times during October. This nationwide display recognises the milestone and invites everyone to join in the celebrations.

1 October 2026 – Another key date for the national social program will be Thursday October 1st, being the start of Probus Month 2026. We hope that every Probus Club will participate in our National Probus Picnic/Lunch on this day.

31 October 2026 – PSPL has organised a 10-day Probus cruise aboard the Celebrity Solstice, departing on 31st October 2026, in collaboration with our Gold Probus Partner – Trade Travel. Over 140 Probus members are already booked, and cabins are limited. Click here to view the offer. 

7–11 November 2026 – Taste of the Cape: Wine, Wildflowers & Wonders – Probus Exclusive, a five-day journey through the Margaret River Region featuring scenic landscapes, wildflowers, historic sites, and gourmet food and wine experiences. Australian Capital Territory

1 October 2026 – Canberra Airport Ring Road, John Gorton Building, National Carillon, Museum of Australian Democracy (MoAD) at Old Parliament House, and Questacon will be illuminated to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Probus.

New South Wales 

23 March 2026 – Government House reception. 

10 August 2026 – Reception hosted by Governor General.

1 October 2026 – Clock Tower Newcastle, Goulburn Visitor Information Centre, Morpeth Bridge, the Big Banana, and participating councils including Orange City Council, City of Parramatta Council, Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, Wagga Wagga City Council, and Wollondilly Shire Council will be illuminated to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Probus.

Northern Territory

1 October 2026 – Darwin Civic Centre building will be illuminated to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Probus.

1–2 October 2026 – Frances Drive Light Pole, Palmerston Water Tower, Palmerston Recreation Centre, and City of Palmerston Library will be illuminated to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Probus.

Queensland

9 April 2026 – Government House reception.

22 July 2026 – Brisbane Lord Mayor’s Reception.

29 September 2026 – City Hall Concert.

1 October 2026 – Breakfast Creek Bridge, Reddacliff Place Sculptures: Donna Marcus Steam 2006, Story Bridge, Tropical Dome, Victoria Bridge, Wickham Terrace Car Park, and Burdekin Shire Council will be illuminated to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Probus.

21–28 October 2026 – Emu Park Singing Ship, Keppel Sands Playground, Wreck Point Lookout (only if current maintenance upgrade has been completed), and Yeppoon Foreshore Amphitheatre will be illuminated to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Probus. 

South Australia

28 May 2026 – City of Onkaparinga Mayor’s Reception.

3 June 2026 – Government House Reception.

29 July 2026 – Consensus Quiz Morning followed by lunch Club Marion.

30 July 2026 – Consensus Quiz Morning followed by Lunch Para Hills Community Club.

1 October 2026 – Adelaide Town Hall, Gawler Civic Centre, The Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre, Town Hall in Unley Council, Visitor Information Centre – Lady Nelson, Tasman Terrace Street Uplights, land-locked ship HMAS Whyalla, and Copper Coast Council will be illuminated to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Probus.

12 & 13 October 2026 – Eyre Peninsula 50^th Anniversary Probus Rally Port Lincoln Yacht Club.

19 October 2026 – Naracoorte Combined Probus Clubs 50^th Anniversary Rally Naracoorte Bowling Club.

Tasmania

14 June 2026 – Government House reception. 

1–7 October 2026 – Cardinal Lights (Mawson Place), Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre (DKHAC), Elizabeth Mall, Franklin Square Fountain, Kennedy Lane, and Rose Garden Bridge will be illuminated to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Probus.

8 October 2026 – Paranaple Convention Centre will be illuminated to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Probus.

Victoria

9 April 2026 – Government House Reception. 

30 April 2026 – City of Bendigo Council Reception.

6 May 2026 – Wangaratta & Northeast Victoria Group Celebration at Wangaratta Turf Club.

30 July 2026 – High Tea at Chirnside Park Country Club.

23 September 2026 – Tea Dance at Chadstone Bowls Club.

28 September 2026 – City of Monash Event.

30 September 2026 – City of Knox Picnic Event.
