The Club successfully conducted its July 2020 and August 2020 Committee Meeting Online via the Zoom Video Conferencing Technology, with all participants connected by an excellent Audio and Video connection. Following those trials the Club decided to conduct the September 2020 General Meeting Online to gauge our Member interest. Again, it was warmly welcomed with 44 members and 5 visitors joining the Zoom Meeting. Following that success the Club decided to conduct its remaining 2020 Monthly General Meetings & Committee Meetings Online via Zoom, and the Club opted to pay for a monthly subscription to the Zoom Video Communications Company to utilise the Zoom Video Conferencing Technology.

Since then we have successfully conducted our October, November and December General Meetings on-line via Zoom with member & visitor participation of approximately  40 – 45 persons. We have successfully inducted 3 new members at these meetings and have also welcomed 5 completely new visitors to the Club at these Zoom meetings, in addition to those visitors we already had on our Visitors List prior to the commencement of the Covid-19 lockdown in March 2020. Additionally, we have been able to arrange for Guest Speakers for our October and November Zoom General Meetings. We propose to continue functioning in this limited manner until any Covid-19 restrictions are further lifted in Victoria.

During the past two months we have also successfully been able to re-commence the Club’s Group Activities for the Dine Out Group , the Morning Coffee & Chat Group, the Walking Group and the Out & About Group which recently conducted a Bush Picnic at the Anakie Gorge, just near Geelong.

The continued resumption of the Club’s Group Activities in 2021 will depend on the what the latest Covid-19 restrictions are in place for the Geelong Region.

We will also continue to keep in touch via the Bulletin and ask that you keep in touch with your Probus friends via email or phone to ensure that no one feels isolated by this shutdown. If you wish to speak with any of the Committee or require any assistance however small it may seem, please ring, message or email Peter, Lloyd or any Committee Member as we will be available to assist.

A revised format Bulletin will be sent out as usual – read and contribute as you see fit.
