2025 Christmas Celebration
The Canterbury International Hotel - Tuesday 9 December
Many members enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch. Turkey and veggies were slightly varied including a tiny corn, a tiny carrot, broccolini and asparagus, plus cranberry gravy. Dessert was traditional plum pud, ice-cream, strawberries and custard. The bar ‘ran dry’ at 3.30pm.
We welcomed six guests to our celebrations.
And from Gerry –
This event at the Canterbury International Hotel, Forest Hill, was a great success with a very convivial atmosphere.
The quiz posed some dramas for some and yet others revelled in the challenge. I had a Senior’s moment and forgot to get the Scratchies to present to the winning table of intellects. They have promised to hold me to the IOU that I committed to and they are here on my desk as I write.
Welcome to our visiting guests.

2025 Christmas in July - Gerry Cross
Our Christmas in July Meeting at the Box Hill Golf Club was attended by 35 members.
The Sing Australia Choir from Heathmont regaled us with a range of Christmas Carols and songs from their repertoire prior to lunch. They were
entertaining and their personal enjoyment in singing was evident in their well executed delivery of an interesting range of songs.
The choir commenced their performance singing Happy Birthday to Ada Deunk who has recently turned 90 years of age. A lovely birthday cake with candles of 90 was delivered to Ada as this was performed and she was given a bunch of flowers.
The quiz prize was won by a bunch of intellectuals and this month the prize was individual scratchy tickets and two of the table members won prizes of cash. The lucky spot winners took home an orchid in bloom.
The Golf club provided special chocolates in a cute package and the meal and overall service was excellent according to comments by the members. Overall we had a great meal together and there was a buzz in the room all day. It was great to see a guest from our June meeting join us for the lunch.
