Past Trips

The Ellerslie Probus Club has been on many varied trips.

From Motuihe  Island in the Hauraki Gulf on the Red Boat to Bus trips to the Hamilton Gardens which included a river boat trip and luncheon; a trip to Waiheke on the ferry followed by a bus trip to Onetangi Beach; and the Maritime Museum in Devonport.

An informative tour of the Morris & James Pottery near Matakana was followed by lunch in their cafe. We were drawn back on a later trip to the same region, for a boat ride around the Goat Island Marine Sanctuary and a chance to browse around Matakana village.

Movies and old-fashioned roast luncheons at Ryders Museum in Avondale.

More locally the club has gone on many Gold Card trips which include restaurants.

Last year 2019 our Christmas luncheon was held as a garden party at one of our members' homes which was enjoyed by all.

January Picnic About 50 members gathered in our Vice President, Maureen Reed's lovely garden. We were served refreshments, canapes, finger food and delicate desserts under the shade of sun umbrellas and leafy trees. After weeks of windy weather it was a calm and perfect day. We all enjoyed the warm atmosphere of Probus friends and the hospitality of Maureen's family.

Friday 21 February A beautiful summers day enticed 24 members on board a Red Boat trip to Riverhead.  An enjoyable harbour cruise included a picnic lunch on board. Everyone agreed it was a wonderful day on the water and a chance to appreciate the scenic beauty of the Waitemata Harbour.

Friday 25 July: A pleasant bus ride to Puhoi where we stopped at the Cheese Factory for Morning Tea and a leisurely browse followed by lunch at the Puhoi Pub. A historic spot full of memorabilia and olde worlde charm. Another worthwhile day out.

Friday 23 October: A Bus trip to Crystal Mountain, Swanson was enjoyed by 24 members. In a rural setting so near the city we had a close up look at the animals including llamas and alpacas. An impressive collection of crystals, gems and fossils from all over the world, displayed in a cave like setting gave us an absorbing and educational outing. Over Lunch at the on-site cafe we had plenty of opportunity to chat...
