October 2024

Congratulations and well done to Team Gomm and Stockley for another successful Peel on Wheels excursion to Manjimup.  While some of the 20 participants stayed in town, they were happy to join the rest of the group in the late afternoon/ evening to participate in the fun and activities.

As usual, Toni was well prepared with quizzes, cards, dice, jigsaw puzzles and an endless stash of 20c pieces for those who hadn’t accumulated a bag full from their success at previous games nights. The highlight of the evening was Frank and Steve serenading us with sea shanties. These boys have come along way since they started performing professionally and they really know how to entertain a crowd. Our days were busy doing all the touristy things on offer in Manjimup with visits to the local pioneer museum, King Jarrah (500 years old and still going strong ), Diamond lookout and bicentennial Karri tree, Big Brook Dam, beautiful Beedelup Falls and the Cascades, not to mention the gourmet delights of ‘Two Little Blackbirds’ Cafe and ‘Tall Timber Brewing’. Some of us even found the new chocolate factory just outside Pemberton , that had been selling its delicious ( but expensive ) wares at the SW Get-Together on Monday.
On the last evening, we all enjoyed a lovely dinner together at the local pub.  All too soon our four day sojourn at the peaceful Fonty’s caravan park and lovely local motels had come to an end.
