At our General monthly meetings we are privileged to have a guest speaker who is happy to come along and give a talk on their particular vocation or special interest. Whether it be travel, environmental issues, charities, political, professions, sports, writers, adventurers etc, we can be sure that whatever their choice of subject is, we will always be treated to a very informative and interesting presentation.

Guest Speaker – Donald Macrae Gordon

‘Advanced knowledge and Technology in the Ancient World’

Donald provided a fascinating and very informative presentation based on research and evidence.  He began his talk with a discussion of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu before moving on to ancient Egypt and the pyramids and statutes of that civilisation some 5,000 years BP (‘before the present’).  He described how the achievements of that era were beyond the capabilities of the population living at that time.  He had warned his audience that we would be left with more questions than answers.   Don returned to the topic of the Inca people  who claimed that their perfectly constructed walls in and around the city of Cusco were built ‘by the Gods’.  Members were left informed but wondering!
