On Thursday 18th August 2022, a Mystery Bus Trip took 30 of us to Camperdown. Surrounded by Mounts Leura and Sugarloaf and Lakes Bullen Merri and Purrumbete, Camperdown boasts the most spectacular scenery imaginable. Dairy farming and sheep grazing are prevalent here.
We enjoyed a delicious morning tea (thank you Wendy, your cooking is to die for). This was followed by a hair-raising trip up Mt. Leura in the coach. This area features the third largest volcanic plain in the world. After a great lunch, we visited the Heritage Centre and was given a fascinating talk on the history of the area by a very knowledgeable volunteer. To finish off the day, we visited the Benedictine Abbey, where we were made very welcome by the Abbess. These grounds contain beautiful gardens, and the Abbey itself is an amazing structure.
