Subject: RE: Volunteering Opportunity for Probus Members
Good morning Neil,
I hope you had a great weekend. Please find information below for distribution amongst your members:
Are you friendly and enjoy having a chat? We need you!
As a volunteer, your role is to have a friendly chat with people who make contact on the telephone, talking about everyday topics. Loneliness has been linked to a range of physical and mental health concerns. Just talking to our wonderful volunteers for a short time helps our callers feel less lonely and makes it easier for them to cope. Note: this is not a crisis intervention or counselling service.
Volunteers will be provided support and training.
You will answer incoming calls via a computer in one of our offices and have a friendly chat with people as well as completing simple data entry tasks online during your shift.
Some of the skills and qualities we are looking for:
* Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence
* Previous volunteer experience is desirable but not necessary
* Experience or willingness to learn about community organisations
* Basic IT proficiency
* National Police record check (to be completed through Friends for Good)
* Adhere to and promote the values and mission of Friends for Good
* Commitment to volunteering
NOTE: This role requires a commitment of one shift (2-3 hours) per week for at least six months, please do not apply for the role if you cannot commit to this, as we use considerable resources to recruit and train volunteers.
To apply, please follow this link: http://bttr.im/gzmei
More information about Friends for Good can be found here: Friends for Good | Not-for-profit organisation and Australian loneliness charity | Coordinating FriendLine, Research Reports and National Conferences | Donate today | Home | Friends For Good
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
Kind regards,
Meg Vincent (she/her) Volunteer Coordinator Part-Time |

Subject: Making contact
Hello,
I’m Liz, Community Development Coordinator at Brunswick Salvos (the old Citadel in Albert St), where we provide support, connection and belonging for vulnerable community members.
We are on the look-out for a couple of volunteers with great people skills and administration skills to help on our Reception desk.
I’m getting in touch to ask if there is an opportunity to promote this to your members. We felt Probus members would be the sort of people with the rights skills and experience as well as values that would be perfect for this role.
Is it possible to place a call-out in your newsletter, or via email/social media to see whether any members may be interested?
If so, please let me know and I will send you more details about the volunteer role 😊
Kind regards, |
