OPENING: President Peter Carritt opened the meeting at 10.20 am and welcomed back members after a long break caused by the Covid 19 Virus. He also thanked the West Pennant Hills Sports Club Board of Directors for allowing the Club members to hold their meetings there, and urged members to consider joining that Club.

WELCOME VISITORS The President welcomed Ian Howell, Ranald McKilligan and Bob Pascoe who were attending.

SPEAKER: Hans Kluman provided an informative and interesting address on the 9/11 event that took place in New York in 2000. Ian Green offered a vote of thanks and made a presentation on behalf of the Club.

APOLOGIES: Apologies were received from Barry Rath, Uri Semenetz, Col Clay, Col Griffiths, Ken Norris and Alan Hatcher.

ACT OF REMEMBRANCE Members stood and observed a minute silence in memory of Geoff Nelson, who had been a life member.

ANNIVERSARIES: The President congratulated the following members on their anniversaries: Phil Bailey 5 years, David Dalpra 8 years, Clive Donohoo 12 Years, Roy Robinson 17 years.

MINUTES: On a motion moved by Brian Took, the Minutes of the meeting of 2 November 2020 were adopted.

BUSINESS ARISING: In the absence of Col Clay, Barry O’Rourke reported the recommendations from the Membership Survey Report instigated and summarised by Col and approved by the Management Committee at its meeting last week. Following prolonged discussion, the Committee agreed that:  - Every member should be encouraged bring a prospective member to our meetings.  - Probus promotional material will be displayed at shopping centres (North Rocks, Cherrybrook and Carlingford Court) on a regular basis, with any cost to be met by the club. - The monthly stall at North Rocks Markets, run by Carlingford Rotary Club, our sponsor club, should continue. -  A wider range of outings will be encouraged with suggestions to be put forward by members,  our Website should be regularly up-dated highlighting the favourable features and activities of the club. - A new Membership Drive Sub-Committee with 3 or 4 members will be formed and volunteers will be invited to serve on it at the next meeting.  - Preliminary discussions should begin with Beecroft Men’s Club regarding the possibility of amalgamation.

CORRESPONDENCE Bill Leigh informed the Secretary of his resignation from the membership of Carlingford Men’s Probus..

MATTERS ARISING: There was no Business Arising from correspondence .

REPORTS: Treasurer: Fergus Scott advised that the balance of the General Account was $3,955.41 and the Outings Account $42,242.38 which included prepayments for the Temora Outing in March 2021 . (Copy attached). Several members had not yet paid the annual membership fee for 2020. An Auditor’s Report from Don Arnold was also tabled indicating that the accounts were in order. Members expressed their appreciation of the work of the Treasurer and the Auditor by acclamation.

Membership: Peter Jones reported that of 47 members, 34 (72%) were in attendance.

Speakers: Ian Green advised that the speaker at the March 2021 meeting would be John Donohoe on Australian Bushrangers. Submissions from members were invited for future speakers.

Welfare: In the absence of Col Griffiths no report was presented.

Outings: Peter Evans advised that due to Corona Virus limitations, and Health regulations, no outings are scheduled in the short term. The tour of the Town Hall, visit to Doyles,ba and Tobruk Station are under consideration for later this year.

Newsletter: Hank Staal reported that the following members had or would celebrate their birthday as indicated: Bob Robson 1 Jan Laurence Blows 12 Jan Yuri Semenetz 23 Jan John Gotsis 12 Feb Roy Robinson 15 Feb Milton Purkiss 23 Feb Barry Parker 26 Feb He also invited members to submit a one page life story for inclusion in a members booklet. Sample stories from the booklet of another club were available for perusal. Sports:

Clive Donohoo informed the meeting that the first bowls event for the Probus Shield for 2021 will take place in June and a second event was planned for later this year.

Membership & PSPL Liaison: No report was presented.

Motion to receive reports Peter Jones moved a motion that the reports be adopted.

General Business: The President reminded members that they had previously agreed that the Committee of Management would continue as it is currently for the 2021-2022 year. The Secretary informed members of the need for an Archivist and invited nominations.
