Auckland Easter Show
15 Mar 2013
In Auckland over the Easter long weekend? One of New Zealand’s favourite shows, the Coca-Cola Easter Show has something for everyone.
The annual Coca-Cola Easter Show showcases traditional agricultural events as well as art exhibitions, live entertainment, sporting events, carnival rides and a market place.
The A&P Show promotes the proud agricultural heritage of New Zealand with a display of animals, sheep shearing and an unforgettable show of New Zealand’s strongest men competing against wood pressers. There’s also an equestrian competition just next door.
For the kids, Cookie Bear Kiddiland provides hours of entertainment with rides including a mini Ferris wheel, pirate ship, slides and the all-popular teacup ride. The Wot Wots perform and even Alvin and the Chipmunks appear.
Over on the main stage throughout the weekend, there’ll be a mix of traditional performances from a variety of cultures. Plus, there’s a wonderful marketplace to be explored and the goodies on offer are just waiting to be purchased.
The art show is New Zealand’s largest art competition with painting, woodwork, glass, ceramics and photography sections.
If you’re keen to stay for the night, the carnival rides stay on and there are plenty of acts to entertain, including the Zirka Circus (pictured).
