A member of Darwin Probus Club, Gwenda Smallacomb, was awarded Life Membership in recognition of her 10 years of secretarial work for the Club.

The award was presented by Her Honour Vicky O’Halloran, Administrator of the Northern Territory, also the Darwin Probus Clubs Patron. Gwenda was rather overcome by the recognition.

During this time Gwenda has initiated several programmes that have inspired club growth, fellowship and stability. One of these was to have a combined Clubs executive meeting a couple of times per year, bringing four Club executives together for sharing information and assisting each other with challenges. Out of the initial meeting, the Combined Social Committee was born.

She continued on to assist the Combined Social Club with their combined events, such as the Games Day, Probus Day picnic in the Botanical Gardens, the Revue or FFF Night (Fun Fellowship and Frivolity Night), and of course the annual Seniors Expo for the Top End.

Gwenda has produced the Darwin Probus Club’s Bulletin over those ten years and always strives to improve each edition and include as many members’ profiles and interest groups as possible making it an enjoyable read.

As well as producing the Darwin Probus Club's Bulletin, Gwenda now produces the Marrara Probus Club's Bulletin to continue updating members when no other member is able to take on this role.

Everyone is very proud of Gwenda’s commitment, friendship, and the initiatives she has encouraged in the Clubs over these years. A member to be recognised.
