Lost worlds of Peru
20 Dec 2013
Want to go to Peru but really don’t want to sit on a plane for two days? Just head to Australia’s capital for a taste instead.
Gold and the Incas: Lost Worlds of Peru reveals the splendour, drama and beauty of ancient Peru. The exhibition features more than 200 works of art from the famous empire of the Incas, including jewellery, textiles and sculptures.
Displaying just how inventive the artists of ancient Peru were, the exhibition delves into the lives of the gold and silversmiths, sculptors, potters and weavers as well as the great artisans from the Peruvian civilisation.
Likely to be a major drawcard for interstate and international visitors, Gold and the Incas takes visitors into the history of the South American nation as cultures rose and fell, their artefacts buried with their owners.
