To the opera: La Boheme
07 Dec 2012
After sell-out sessions in Sydney and Melbourne, director Gale Edwards' acclaimed version of Puccini's classic returns.
Leading a stunning cast are Opera Australia's young soprano Nicole Car and Italian tenor Gianluca Terranova.
The dark and glittering production transports poet Rodolfo and young seamstress Mimi from the Latin Quarter of Paris in the 1830s to Berlin in the 1930s. Its visual impact is incredible.
The production centers on a group of spirited bohemian friends who are impoverished, passionate and living on the precipice of change. The chemistry between Rodolfo and Mimi has inspired some of the most melodic music ever writeen.
Edwards transforms La boheme into a cabaret with rich, sensuous colours and characters, and touches of Hollywood glamour.
