Broome Shinju Matsuri Festival

For more than 40 years, Broome’s Shinju Matsuri Festival of the Pearl
has celebrated the community’s history and the pearling industry’s contribution to the region.

The Shinju Matsuri celebration has brought Broome, in WA’s northwest, to life each September for the past 40 years.

Local talents and industry drive a range of community events including an art prize, parade, workshops and food showcases, right from the waking of Sammy the Dragon through to the fireworks finale ten days later.

What’s better, visitors have ample opportunity to get involved in celebrating the town’s history and diverse culture.
