Why Join a Probus Club?

What are the Aims?

Probus Club members meet monthly, to enjoy the company of like-minded fellow retirees and listen

to interesting guest speakers.

Probus is not a Service Club

Probus does not engage in fund raising or community sponsorship

A Probus Club is made up of 30 to 100 or so members from all walks of life.

It is also non-sectarian and non-political.

We believe the local venue is important; the members get to relax and talk about things at the local

meeting venue at this after-meeting chat,

What are the benefits?

Probus is about Friendship and Fun in retirement.

Probus provides you with the opportunity to meet with fellow retirees on a regular basis,

listen to interesting speakers and join in activities, all in the company of new friends.

You will meet different people.

You are getting different insights on what people want, and what people need.

One of the most popular things is not just the meeting, but also the optional lunch afterwards.

Probus is clear about its aims of Fun, Friendship and Fellowship, but all Clubs are different and

people’s reasons for joining are also very personal.

Probus is Fun and Friendship in Retirement.

Probus Clubs offer a range of activities including :

trips and outings for members to enjoy, depending on their interests, lifestyle and location.

People have different reasons for joining Probus.

You might join a Probus Club to expand your mind with a range of guest speakers or for the morning

tea get- togethers.

Your reasons might be moving into a new area, the loss of a partner,

or the chance to make new friends.

Probus broadens your view of life.

Probus widens your attitude to a range of things. You can talk about anything and everything and

most people will listen and have a nice easy debate.

Eligibilty

There is no specified lower or upper age limit.

Members must be retired or semi-retired. They are usually 55 or over.

They should be active enough to attend meetings and participate in at least some social activities.

There are members who use a wheelchair to get around.

Activities!

What we have found is that members enjoy is local outing to places of interest.

People often embrace the idea of dining out at a local restaurant.

What you really find out about people is that they love to have a chat, and that is done when they

relax away from the meeting, or when they go on outings.

For longer activities involving travel, local Probus Club members sometimes combine with other

Clubs to allow for better events to be economically undertaken.

Why join Probus Club of Windsor Inc?

The Probus Club of Windsor has a limit to its’ numbers. It wishes to stay a moderate-sized club to

provide an opportunity for all members to get to know each other well and build a strong

community feeling within the club.

Our regular monthly general meeting is held at the Windsor RSL Club which is located at 36 Argyle

Street South Windsor at 10.30 am on the 1 st Wednesday of each month (Other than January).

At the regular monthly general meeting of all club members, the forthcoming activities are discussed

and members indicate in which of those activities they will participate.

Each activity has a Champion who is the organiser and main contact point for that particular activity.

If you have an activity you wish to see happen, we are always keen to introduce new activities to the

Club.

At the Probus Club of Windsor, we find that people love to have a chat and this is easier among the

smaller groups that are taking part in the activities between the monthly general meetings.

Activities are only limited by our collective imagination and we attempt to ensure the majority of the

activities enable all levels of mobility to participate.
