December - Probus Christmas Lunch

On Friday the 12th of December, at 12.30 PM, we are having our Port Douglas & District Christmas lunch at Thala Lodge. Lunch will be at the 'Osprey' (Thala Lodge), and members pay for themselves on the afternoon. Please register for this event with Lorraine at [email protected]. Registration is essential so that Thala can plan and the committe knows how many to expect.

If you have never been to Thala you are in for a treat!

Past Events:

October - Mt Carbine Tour

On Wednesday the 8th of October the club had a tour of the Mt Carbine Tungsten mine.  We were lucky enough to witness the whole operation of the mine. After arriving on our bus, we were divided into groups of four and then put into mine vehicles and driven around the operation. We saw the main pit and afterwards the crushing and the processing. We were amazed to see that all processing was done using just gravity and water, in a very environmental procedure.  Afterwards we all enjoyed lunch at the Mt Mollay Hotel.

September - Petanque 

On Tuesday the 17th September we had an outing to the petanque piste. Although not as popular as we had hoped, there was still about ten members present. For those who came it was an exciting game of this very French game and enjoyed by all.

April - Mamma Mia + optional lunch

On Sunday April the 13th many members meet at The Tin Shed for lunch. Members then attended the 2.00 pm matinee showing of Mama Mia at the Clink Theatre.
