April - Monday the 28th

This month we have the return of Gazza, our very first speaker. Gazza is a breakfast personality on 101.5 Douglas FM, and gave a short talk at our first meeting last year. He will talk about his life on radio, starting from hospital radio in the UK, and all that he has done since in radio, which is quite extensive.

May - Monday the 26th

Whether you are new to the Port Douglas area or have lived here all your life, our May speaker will be very interesting if you have ever wondered about the areas history.

Our speaker this month is Lynn Anich.

Lynn is very involved with the Douglas Historical Society and has lived in the area for most of her adult life. Lynn is very knowleable in all our local history, from the early settlers to the cane industry and will be well worth listening to.

June - Monday the 23rd

We all wonder, are they in our garden? Our June presenter is Sharyn Anisset from Biosecurity Queensland. Sharyn is going to tell us, and show us, electric ants. Apart from slides up on the big screen, she will also have a box of these little critters so we can all see what they look like. She will then tell is what to do to get rid of them. This should be a very interesting talk and of course very relevent for all of who live in Electric Ant terrority.

July - Monday 28th

Our guest speaker for July is well known in the area. We are lucky enough to have Councillor Damien Meadows coming to speak to us. Many of you will remember Damien as the local policeman here in Port Douglas for many years. I'm sure he has many stories about his time as a policeman in a small northern rural town, and the changes he has seen as our town grew into a popular tourist destination.

August - Monday 25th

Ryan MacNeill

Ryan is the operations manager at Mt Carbine. Mount Carbine is a tungsten mine owned by EQ Resources.

September - Monday 22nd

Nicky Swan

Nicky is the CEO of Mossman Botanic Gardens but on this occasion she will be telling us all about the exciting and exhausting walk she did to the Northe Pole some years ago.
