Mystery Bus Report from Phil Brooke
Well! What a great day. 39 people on the bus at 10am. Will we go North or South? The information given is that the first stop is about 1¼ hours away. The bus heads North and over the Bridgewater bridge. Is it the back way to Richmond, Oatlands or Bothwell. The bus cruises along the Midland Highway then all of a sudden slows at Melton Mowbray. Ah! Bothwell for morning tea.
On arrival at Bothwell we alight for morning tea and an opportunity to do some sightseeing including the Ratho Golf Museum. Morning tea would have fed 60. Once back on the bus, the driver also realised it was a Mystery Tour as he was going to take us, just up the road, to Ratho Farm for lunch. No we continued on...
We were actually going to Rathmore on Hollow Tree Road 20 minutes away for lunch. Once there we were shown through the Homestead and then adjourned to the Wool-shed for lunch.
The Lamb Ragout and Pasta dish was preceded by Canapés and Dolmades. From the Wool-shed we wandered up to the chaff storage shed for coffee and cake. 3 o’clock rolled around pretty quick so it was back on the bus and a trip via Gretna to our starting point at New Town.
