 Mrs Ann Kennish

President's Post 2025 - 2026

June 2025

It was a full Agenda at the General Meeting on 21st May with the induction of Julie van Noord and the appointment of a new Secretary following the resignation of Allan Hough.  The Treasurer Ian, and I gave a brief overview of the PAWA workshop we attended on 16th May.  It helped us with clarifying the roles of PAWA and PSPL as well as sharing management matters with Committee Members from other Clubs.

There was a slight pause in the meeting as members considered volunteering for the position of Secretary. It was agreed by all that the position be divided into two parts.  Ron Stephenson accepted the role of Minute Secretary, and Gaye Sweeney accepted the role of General Secretary. We all thank them for their commitment.

The committee meeting on the 11th June reviewed the Diary plans and we hope members will enjoy the selected Outings.   The Pines and the Pagoda were not available for Club dates. Help is offered to members who have not experienced the convenience of train travel.  Try train to the Museum and Mandurah trips, or car pool  if preferred.

Now for the fun times.  I have never played golf before, so playing mini golf at Collier Park Golf Course on 28th May was an education, albeit full of hits and misses and fun and laughter.  The 16 members who attended played to their strengths and a few of them had holes in 1. (not me!)

Yours in Probus – Ann Kennish, President

May 2025

There was a fine roll up of members for the General Meeting at the Harold Rossiter Reserve Meeting Rooms on the 16th April. Friendly expectation helped me as a new President to chair the meeting. A Powerpoint slide show of the Agenda was useful; it combined visual slide content with the microphone presentation. It was a lengthy meeting with good participation by members to develop a flexible plan for activities/outings during 2025.

The unexpected resignation by Secretary Allan Hough for personal reasons was accepted at the committee meeting on 14th May. The committee encourages him to continue with his membership and to enjoy the friendships he has made at Probus. Allan had been the only nomination for the position of Secretary at the AGM. The role of Secretary is essential to the operation of the Probus Club. The position will be open to volunteers at the General Meeting on 21st May. A new Secretary will be welcomed and strongly supported by the current committee.

Annual General Meeting ....

The 19th March was the culmination of much preparation behind the scenes for the Annual General Meeting. I thank all those who willingly signed their nomination form to commit to being an Office Bearer, or providing leadership in the many other roles at the Club, during 2025-2026. As President I plan to highlight the core values of Probus.

It was my pleasure to welcome the new committee on the 9th April. It was a lengthy and productive meeting. The new committee members dealt with the regular agenda matters and enthusiastically started planning activities. As there had been no nomination for Outings Officer, the committee proceeded to “Plan B”. A wide range of ideas and suggestion were discussed for activities and a short list was prepared considering member costs and personal capacity. I’ll present details at the next General Meeting. Following the meeting the designated Office Bearers proceeded to the Westpac bank to change signatories.
