Goulburn celebrates 150 years
08 Mar 2013
Goulburn celebrates being named Australia’s first inland city 150 years ago, with a month of fun and family-friendly activities.
A variety of events embracing Goulburn’s past, present and future will be held throughout the month, kicking off with an official ceremony on 14 March at St Saviour’s Cathedral.
Saturday 16 March is the key date with a street parade, a birthday party, and a twilight carnival and concert.
A giant Goulburn 150th Birthday Street Parade along Auburn St will showcase the evolution of the community. The parade starts at 11am.
The Biggest Kids Party will be held in Belmore Park from 12 – 6pm. Kids will have a ball taking part in sack races, three-legged races, face painting and craft activities. Plus there are show bags to purchase and a big birthday cake to be cut and enjoyed.
Later that evening, Goulburn celebrates with a Twilight Concert and Carnival at Belmore Park with music, carnival rides, and country music artists Amber Lawrence and Paul Costa, as well as talented local bands.
Throughout the month, there will also be a number of community organisations hosting special events including exhibitions, performances, sporting events, and food and wine.
