Into the Wild

Into the Wild is a photographic exhibition exploring the talents of Tasmanian wilderness artists and uncovering the development of wilderness photography.

Works of photographers including Morton Allport, Jack Thwaites and Rob Blakers are grouped under the exhibition's key themes: 'In the beginning', 'A growing awareness', 'You don’t know what you’ve got 'til it’s gone' and 'The professionals'.

The exhibition serves as a reminder that Tasmania is seen as one of the great centres of natural beauty; it reveals the historical and ongoing differences between Tasmania’s wilderness and the wilderness of the rest of Australia and the world.

Into the Wild features never-before-exhibited items including a camera and a japara tent used by photographer Olegas Truchanas in the 1960s.
