Various activities are organised throughout the year which enable us to experience many different things.

Garden Group

We like to visit a variety of gardens and nurseries within easy reach of Melbourne, to learn about and enjoy different types of plants and how to grow and look after them. Some of the gardens visited include:

Garden Express Monbulk, The System Garden Carlton, Roraima Nursery & Display Garden Lara, Hancock's Daffodils Menzies Creek, Alowyn Gardens Yarra Glen, Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria at Cranbourne, Yamina Rare Plants Monbulk, Banksia Nursary, Country Dahilias Winchelsea, Williamstown Botanic Gardens, Melton Botanic Gardens, Coombe Cottage, Cloudhill Olinda, Salvia Display Emerald, Picardy Garden Neerim South, Springvale Botanical Cemetary gardens, State Rose Gardens Werribee, Ceres East Brunswick, Maranoa Gardens Balwyn North, Yarra View Nursery Mt Evelyn, Warren Glen Nursary and many others.

The Garden Group also has "plant swap" opportunities for members to share plants with each other.

Day Trips

These are organised to places that are of interest to as many members as possible.

Consideration is given to members with mobility issues. Activities usually alternate between low cost local destinations and bus trips which are more costly. Minimum numbers are required to make bus trips viable.

We have visited the MCG, the Tennis Centre, Geelong, Arthurs Seat, Ballarat Archibald Prize, Marysville, Walhalla, Puffing Billy, Lilydale Lake, Yarra Valley Racing, Maton guitar factory, Viking Exhibition, Around the Bay the Westernport way, Kenworth Trucks Bayswater, Gippsland Bus Tour, Victorian Parliament, Port Arlington Cruise and many more.

Suggestions from members are most welcome.

Extended Tours

These tours can be short overnight stays, longer holidays interstate or to overseas destinations.

We have enjoyed trips to Bright, Cobden, Mauritius, WA, Inverloch, Longreach, Tasmania, Singapore, Europe, Warrnambool, Stanthorpe, East Coast Tasmania, Wimmera Mallee Silo Art Tour & India. Many exciting new adventures are being considered for 2020.

A few tours are self-organised, and others are through travel companies. We like to use travel agencies that are considerate of the needs of retired people, are value for money and provide good service.
