Guest Speakers

Over the 15 years since we began, we have enjoyed a wide range of interesting, informative and entertaining guest speakers. Among these have been Nick Earls (author), Jan Power (foodie), Spencer Howson (radio presenter), Lisa Newman (Lady Mayoress), Roly Sussex (language expert), Patrick Pickett (Pops Orchestra), Helen Gregory (historian),  Anthony Cornelius (weather man), Hugh Lunn (author), Rhyl Hinwood (sculptor), Rupert McCall (poet), Dr Jim Lergessner (historian), David Early (chopper pilot), Brian Herd (family lawyer) and so many more. 

In addition, we have a 5-minute speaker from amongst our members each meeting to talk about their life or a topic of their choice.

July - Dr Dorothy Watts – Hon Assoc Professor in Ancient History U of Q – Josiah Wedgwood and the Classics

August – Claire Blake – QIMR – “Amazing New Clinical Trials” – Sharing major breakthroughs

September – Graeme Cliffe, author and Nat Karmichael, publisher – “Early Comics in Australia”
