  • January: Phillip Wynn - Forensics 

  • December - Sandra Verdam from the Dementia Foundation’s Dementia Friends will explain how to go about obtaining advice and assistance needed for those with dementia. Click here for some more information.

  • November - Syd Sherrin, from the family who manufacture the Sherrin football.

  • October - Lynne Loft – Life in early Melbourne and the Gold Fields of Castlemaine

  • September - Andrew Gordon – Shrine of Remembrance. Delve deeper into the Shrine and discover the fascinating history of this monument born by grief after the First World War, which now provides a place of remembrance for Australian service and sacrifice in all wars since.

  • August - Barry Cairns – China Under Chairman Mao

  • July - Carolyn Pethick “TO HELL AND BACK A Policewoman’s Story” Carolyn’s warts and all story of her over 30 years in the Victorian Police is rather harrowing and confronting. She is encouraging women to speak up and report the discriminative treatment that women experience in the workplace on a daily basis. Carolyn’s mission is to be the voice of the victims, both male and female, who are too scared or intimidated to speak out for themselves.

  • June - Bruno Zielke – Astronomer, spoke to us on Cosmology. He is a member of the Cosmology and Astrophysics group of the Astronomical Society of Victoris

  • May - Elida Brereton – The Secret Life of a Principal What secrets will Elida share with us of her 43 years as a teacher in the government school system, finishing in 2010 after 15 years as Principal of Camberwell High School? Elida then worked part time for the Department of Education’s Bastow Institute, mentoring and coaching new and intern principals. 

  • April - Ian Crawford is the nephew of Hector Crawford and son of Dorothy Crawford. Ian will take us on a trip down memory lane.

  • March - AGM - No guest speaker.

  • February - Loretta Smith has worn many hats including an author, teacher and disability manager. Loretta will tell us some of the intrigue behind Alice Anderson, a motoring entrepreneur and adventurer, as told in her book “A Spanner in the Works: The extraordinary story of Alice Anderson and Australia’s first all-girl garage“.

  • January 2023 - Vicki Mustafa grew up in Footscray, the eldest of 5 children, with a Muslim father and a Christian mother. She was brought up as a Muslim but converted to Christianity at 21. Vicki was a missionary in the Middle East for 20 years.

  • December - Rob Rickards is a pilot who teaches people with disabilities how to fly.

  • November - Greensborough RSL President, Lee Webb JP and CEO Warren Blee provided an insight into the running and history of the Greensborough RSL.

  • October 2022 - Eric Kelly who spoke to us about his Antarctic Experience “Mawson’s Hut”

  • September 2022 - Bernadene Voss, Chief Executive Officer Big Group Hug

  • August 2022 - Rob Hyatt, Manager Education and Visitor Experience Koorie Heritage Trust

  • July 2022 - Andrew Wootton “The Wonderful World of Bees”

  • June 2022 - Noel Withers from the Greensborough Historical Society “Anecdotes and Characters from Greensborough”.

  • May 2022 - Dr Melinda Jackson, Senior Lecturer, Turner Institute for Brain and Mental Health at Monash University. Melinda’s field is examining the impact of sleep disturbance and clinical sleep disorders on cognition, brain health and mood.

  • April 2022 - Bernadette Nugent the CEO of Road Trauma Support Services Victoria (RTSSV)
