History of our Club

Our Probus Club held its very first meeting in November 2005 at the Tacking Point Tavern. With strong backing from the Rotary Club of Port Macquarie, the club quickly took off, reaching 150 members in its early days. As the Tavern underwent renovations, we moved to the Town Green Inn—a great venue with one flaw: parking! A few years later, we settled happily at the Port Macquarie Golf Club, which became a favourite meeting place… until more renovations and Covid 19 prompted yet another move—this time to the Racecourse. Finally, we’re now back at the Golf Club.

Activities that brought us together over the years, includes a wonderful mix of social events from Australia Day BBQs, TAFE-hosted dinners, Melbourne Cup luncheons, Changeover dinners, Themed gatherings, Car rallies, Soup, Slice and Trivia afternoons to Christmas carol singing. These events have helped build the spirit of friendship and fun that defines our club. Our club’s journey—from tavern beginnings to a vibrant welcoming social community— reflects the heart of what Probus is all about: friendship, fellowship, and fun.
