PADSTOW COMBINED PROBUS CLUB where visitors are always welcome.

Cutting The Cake

MARKING two decades of fun, friendship and travel, Padstow Combined Probus Club has celebrated its 20th anniversary with a spectacular cake and a slew of special guests.

These included Federal Member for Banks, David Coleman (pictured with President Warren Cormack), Probus South Pacific NSW Director David Malone; Padstow Rotary President Charles Mille and Padstow RSL CEO Mitch Nakic.

Mr Mille presented a certificate to PCPC President Warren Cormack alongside Mr Malone, with Michael Montgomery providing the entertainment.

With membership of the group of semi-retired and retired people bouncing back strongly after covid and now nearing 100, PCPC Secretary Val Isaacs said they’re not just content with local excursions but have ventured to many exotic locations over the years including South Africa, Egypt, China and even the Greek Islands.

Planning their next big break away to Adelaide, Kangaroo Island and the Barossa Valley in October, she said they were also lively theatre and exhibition goers recently enjoying ‘Ramses’ at the Australia Museum, ‘Grease’ and ‘Nine to Five’.
“Plus we dabble in barefoot and lawn bowls, croquet, table tennis and the trots,” Val said.
“But I’m just as happy to jump on a bus and they can take me anywhere, it’s always somewhere special,” she said with a laugh.

Meeting on the first Friday of the month at Padstow RSL from 11am, they also visit different restaurants to experience multicultural cuisine.
“You don’t have to come to every event or meeting but it’s a great opportunity to stay connected and you always have something to look forward to,” Val said.

“When you retire, friendships that are developed through your working life are often lost.
“The day you join Probus, you’ll instantly have dozens of new friends.”
New members welcome; to find out more, call Val on 0417 265 516 or Vice President Bob on 0418 777 778.
