History of North Ryde Combined Probus Club

A public interest meeting concerning the proposed Combined Probus Club of North Ryde was held on 19 October, 2000, with a representative from the Rotary Club of North Ryde presiding.

The foundation meeting was held on 16 November, 2000, at Macquarie Shopping Centre Community Hall with 60 registered foundation members who all received foundation member badges presented by the Rotary President.

Meetings

The club meets on the third Thursday of the month at the North Ryde RSL at 10.00am.

What happens at a Meeting?

As members arrive they check in with the Membership Officer to get their names checked off.  Visitors are welcomed and given a temporary name badge and fill in a visitor's form. Visitors are introduced to members who will look after them for the meeting.

The President opens the meeting welcoming members and any visitors. Last month's Minutes are confirmed and any business arising is outlined.  The Sectretary discusses any correspondence.

Reports are presented by the following:

  • The Treasurer
  • The Membership Officer
  • Clubs and Activities Co-ordinators

General Business is discussed and this is followed by morning tea where members can move around and enjoy time catching up with other members or sign up for activities.

After a break, the Guest Speaker is introduced and members are able to ask questions of the Speaker at question time.

After the confirmation of the date of the next meeting, the meeting closes at 12 noon.

Many members then avail themselves of the many restaurants in the RSL Club to have lunch together.
