OUTINGS:

As ours is a small club, we only occasionally hire a bus for an event.  We did this recently, April 2024, and had a marvellous Mandurah outing with Elite Tours.  For more details, refer to our May 2024 Bulletin.

Most often, we car pool and attend local attractions.  Over the past few years we have visited Whiteman Park, Marloo Theatre, Fo Guang Buddhist Temple in Maylands, Illusionary Art Gallery, The Pasta Factory in the Swan Valley.

We have also enjoyed a BBQ Sundowner at the Glen Forrest Sports Club, and over the past few Winters, a Soup night at the home of some of our members.

In fact, many of our outings are centred around food, so much so that the motto for our club is rapidly becoming:

Fun, friendship, fellowship and food!

Coffee morning

Members meet at 10am on the last Saturday of the month (except December) at The Hive, Darlington for an informal get together. Most people enjoy breakfast or brunch.  These are arranged by one of our committee members, usually Brian Doubikin.

Here member Dorothy Good plays the piano

Birthday Lunch

The club meets for lunch to celebrate the club’s birthday every June, usually at a local hotel or restaurant. We have also had several catered events at the Glen Forrest Sports Club premises.  The social secretary also organises a club lunch to celebrate Christmas every December.

Outings

Members visited Wheelchairs for Kids factory in Wangara. Here two members Ian Allison and Robert Barnacle demonstrate how metal for wheelchair frames is shaped

Mandurah Outing

A full day bus trip and cruise to see dolphins followed a trip to see  one of the giants (below). Members followed the dolphins' example and lunched on fish at a waterside restaurant.

Mundaring Probus members inspect one of Mandurah's giants.

The 'Giants of Mandurah' by Thomas Dambo is a free outdoor exhibition celebrating the extraordinary beauty and importance of protecting our natural world

Theatre Outings

Members enjoy occasional visits to the theatre.

Members recently enjoyed Marloo Theatre’s production of An Unspeakable Triumph of Supreme Brilliance. Complimentary sherry set the tone for an enjoyable evening. Almost half the club attended and future events are planned.
