Leeming Combined Probus Club
About Probus and Our Club
The name PROBUS is derived from PROfessional and BUSiness. The organization was originally set up for retiring Rotarians to maintain contact with persons of similar backgrounds and interests. This has now been extended to include any retired or semi-retired person who has had some degree of responsibility in their working life. PROBUS clubs are social clubs which have the objective of providing FRIENDSHIP, FELLOWSHIP and FUN for their members.
PROBUS clubs do not engage in fund raising or community service. There are approximately 100 clubs in Western Australia, with a total membership of about 5200 persons. There are about 2230 clubs across Australia and the South Pacific region representing about 180000 persons plus many other Clubs world-wide.
Our Club is a combined club meaning we have both male and female members. The Combined Probus Club of Leeming was established in February 2008 which means that it is a young and vibrant club with a developing membership and diverse range of activities.
The Club started with 35 foundation members in 2008 and has grown to a current membership of 97 persons.
Membership is notionally capped due to the constraints of the venue we meet in however the club does maintain a waiting list as required.
Membership costs are kept to a minimum and are currently set at a joining fee of $25 plus an annual membership fee of $80 per annum. Other than the cost to optionally participate in outings and/or tours there are no other costs involved.
