Wednesday 26th November 2025 - JOADJA HISTORIC TOWN TOUR
Joadja Historic Site is a heritage ‘ghost town’ located in the Southern Highlands and was originally established in the late 1870’s by the Australian Kerosene Oil and Mineral Co. It was a thriving town in its heyday, as hundreds of Scottish oil shale miners migrated to the area, bringing with them their skills in the mining and retorting technique. The Scottish heritage in the valley and the history of "sly grog" has inspired the establishment of Joadja Distillery in 2014. The Distillery is one of a few single malt distilleries in the world to grow their own barley and have access to natural pristine spring water on-site.
