TOURS and FUNCTIONS

Organised by our TOURS OFFICERS:

One day excursions/outings are usually programmed each month to places of interest in the surrounding area including Sydney, with travel generally by either train or mini-bus. Favourite day tours in past years were to The Children's Medical Research Institute, Camden, the Arts precinct at Campbelltown, Sydney Botanic Gardens, Berrima Courthouse and the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.

Each year, at least one longer, overnight, major tour is planned, generally using a chartered coach and driver.  These tours may be just two days or up to a week in length. Over recent years, these longer tours have visited such places as the Central West, the southern slopes (Tumut area) and the Lower Murray River (Proud Mary river boat trip).

Organised by our FUNCTIONS OFFICER:

As well as planning our Birthday Lunch (April) and Christmas Lunch (December), the Functions Officer arranges regular one-day events for members, such as: a Croquet lesson/game, attending a Kembla Grange Race Meeting, fun and games on Australia Day, a Bocce Tournament, monthly Morning Teas and Lunches at various venues and more.

Our Tours and Functions Table at each meeting has sign-in sheets for members to put their names down to attend, and money is paid in a labelled envelope with a club receipt issued during the meeting. A pre-pay system is in use, and cancellations may incur a charge.

The social side of our Club is enhanced with lunches after General Meetings and Special Interest Groups who meet monthly. At present these Special Interest Groups include Tai Chi, Exercise Stretch and Canasta.
