Letter to Crows Nest Probus from Edna Macpherson's daughter.

Dear Helen, John and the Probis Crows Nest Group,

I wanted to express my heartfelt thanks for welcoming my mother, Edna Macpherson, into your group over the past few years. Mum passed away on 5 September, and her family and friends miss her dearly.

Mum truly loved being part of Probis. She often spoke about the group with great enthusiasm and encouraged others to join. She was proud to help with raffle tickets and purchasing prizes, and she especially enjoyed the many lunches organised by Helen and John. After each outing, she would tell me all about the places she visited. In the early days, she even caught the bus to meet you, which gave her such confidence.

As her health declined, your kindness made all the difference. Thank you to those who offered lifts so she could continue attending meetings. That generosity meant so much to her.

I also want to thank those who came to Mum’s service at Macquarie Park on 24 September. It was a sad day, but I hope you agree it was a beautiful farewell for a kind, sociable soul who loved her family, friends, and the Crows Nest/Naremburn community.

For those who knew Mum well, you’ll appreciate this: her two Maine Coon cats have found a wonderful new home with a lady in Castlecrag who answered an ad wanting a bonded indoor pair.

I interviewed Elizabeth and her son and when I offered her a cup of tea, she replied, “Yes dear, strong tea with a dash of milk” just as Mum liked it!

I truly believe Mum would have approved. The cats are settling in well and even sleep in Elizabeth’s bed!

Thank you again for all you did for Mum. Please keep enjoying your Probis gatherings, she looked forward to those Thursday meetings so much.

I wish you well for the coming festive season and I would ask you to raise a glass for mum at your Christmas gathering as I’m sure she will be celebrating with you!

Warm regards,
Vickie Scobie
