ABOUT US AND WHAT WE DO ......

Probus meets the needs of retirees and those aproaching retirement by providing opportunities to keep their minds active, expand their interests, stay healthy through activities and networking between like minded people while enjoying the fellowship of new friends.

Probus Clubs have been in existence for over 40 years in Australia, and are in over 22 countries throughout the world. The word PROBUS is an amalgam of the words PROfessional and BUSiness .

The main aim of Probus is to provide active retirees with regular opportunities to gather together, keep their minds active, expand their interests and enjoy the fellowship of new friends.

 Our Club motto is Fun, Fellowship, and Friendship.”

 Probus Clubs are based on a simple self-governing structure, free from the constraints and obligations of other service clubs.

Key objectives include:

  •  v   Providing activities for members that are non-profit making and non-fundraising;

  •  v   Maintaining membership fees at a minimum cost;

  •  v   Ensuring activities are based on non-political and non-sectarian principles;

  •  v   Providing the opportunity for extension of  members’ acquaintances and interests;

  •  v   Seeking members who are compatible with one another;

  •  v   Following a basic set of rules of operation in order to preserve the Cub’s integrity and reputation.

Established for over 30 years our Club has approximately 60 members, being residents of the Bribie Region and offers them the opportunity to share Fun, Fellowship and Friendship in a congenial and caring environment in which the needs and position of all is paramount.

Members have the opportunity to attend monthly Club meetings and to socialise with others through the regular BBQ lunches, special events, cruises and tours. A group of members maintain their health, physical agility, social cohesion and sense of fun through the weekly tennis group. Details of all these activities are listed in the Calendar of Events and Social Activities & Trips sections of this website.

Our Club, as a member of the Probus Association of Queensland (PAQ) and Probus South Pacific Limited (PSPL) benefits from the depth and breadth of the combined organisation as auspiced by Rotary International. Opportunities are available for members of any Probus Club in Australia or New Zealand to associate with others for many activities such as group tours.

Aside from local Probus activities members receive various publications in print and digital versions detailing subjects and topics of interest for retirees along with offers for group or individual cruises, local  and overseas trips. PSPL is able to provide a range of travel insurance coverage at competitive rates beyond the age range covered by traditional providers.

Members are encouraged to consider membership of the Club Management Committee from time to time to assist the planning and implementation of Probus activities. Given the membership base of the Club such duties are easy to undertake and there is plenty of experience available to assist.
