A visit to Sale to attend a concert
07 Sep 2015
A group of music lovers from the Wonthaggi & District Combined Probus Club recently visited Sale to attend a concert presented by well known Australian opera singer and composer, David Hobson.
An afternoon walk around beautiful Lake Guthridge was a fitting prelude to a delightful evening which highlighted the versatility of this consummate performer whose musical repertoire ranges from Baroque to Pop.
After an overnight stay in Sale the group decided to visit the famous Sale Wetlands with its extensive system of boardwalks which meander through stands of magnificent Red River Gums and introduced grasslands. These afford the opportunity to observe at close hand the variety of animal and birdlife which flourishes in this controlled environment. Of interest was the recently restored Swing Bridge, the only one left in the world which can swing around 360 degrees.
A delicious fish lunch at the coastal fishing village of Port Albert was enjoyed before heading for home. Fun, friendship and fellowship were special features of this great trip.
