Paynesville Probus learn about the seafood industry

Paynesville Probus Club recently gathered at a nearby seafood wholesaler to learn about the seafood industry.

The general manager, Anthony, took members through the facility and explained how the operation worked. The organisation is involved from catching to processing, retail, wholesale, and fresh fish meals at a nearby café.

The organisation is an integral part of the Lakes Entrance community by providing employment as well as supporting various community organisations.

The group were lucky to experience the unloading of a trawler, seeing the fresh fish coming off the boat and being packed into ice. As an extra bonus, they watched as some gummy shark and school whiting were miraculously transformed into fillets, all achieved in the blink of an eye by Bobby, a very accomplished staff member.

After the tour, the group adjourned to the nearby seafood restaurant where members enjoyed excellent seafood meals and social chit chat.
