Make the internet a safer, more positive place

In today’s digital world, online safety is more important than ever, and we all have a role to play. That’s why we joined the eSafety Commissioner to support Safer Internet Day which was on Tuesday, 11 February 2025.

This year, eSafety is encouraging everyone to take simple but impactful actions to make the internet a safer, more positive place. Whether it’s starting a conversation about online safety, sharing practical tips, encouraging respectful online interactions, or hosting awareness activities – there are so many ways to get involved.

Tips for a safer, more positive internet

  • Be kind: Practice respect, empathy and kindness online.
  • Be mindful: Balance your time online and engage with positive and respectful content.
  • Speak up: Report online abuse and harmful content.
  • Start the conversation: Talk about online safety with your communities, family and friends.

Celebrate Safer Internet Day by improving your digital skills

No matter our age or skill level, we can all use a bit of extra help to stay tech savvy. Be Connected is here to help – with a website offering hundreds of free resources – including self-paced courses, online presentations, articles, games and more – to help keep your online skills sharp and increase your confidence using the internet and digital devices.
