Full of theatre
11 Dec 2012
Late in 2012, members of the Probus Club of Donvale Hill enjoyed a Senior's Morning Tea organised by the Manningham City Council during Senior's Week.
Over 350 residents primarily from the Manningham area attended the function and thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment and a delicious morning tea.
Dorothy Baker of 'In Melbourne Tonight' fame, a member of the Probus Club, represented the Club and provided the vast majority of the entertainment. Dorothy sang the old favourites of years gone by and was accompanied by her pianist Helen Jowsey, and later accompanied by The Archive Jazzers. She also sang a duet with Reg Gorman, the compare of the day.
A great mornings entertainment - enjoyed by all.
The Club also recently attended the Defence School of Music, at the Simpson Army Barracks at Macleod, and enjoyed a wonderful Proms at Home Concert concert put on by the trainees and students at the School.
The attendees witnessed a very colourful and spectacular display of versatility demonstrated through the sounds of the orchestra and the audience participation segment was welcomed enthusiastically.
In the evening, the Club visited the Whitehorse theatre and enjoyed a very colourful live performance of Hello Dolly that of course contained many of the well known songs.
To conclude a very busy theatrical month, the next week, the Club attended the Doncaster Playhouse and enjoyed a hilarious live play titled Slim Chance. This depicted the story of a slimmimg group that met regularly in a local church hall with the purpose of losing weight. A great, fun show brilliantly acted.
