Sweetest coach trip
27 Nov 2013
Recently, the Probus Club of Seaford experienced a fantastic coach trip, rated by some as the best ever. Two members were also presented with life membership certificates.
Life members
Congratulations to Ray Boyle and John Goodfellow who were both presented with life membership for their commitment and dedication to the club. These two men have, over the years, shown the true spirit of Probus in their fellowship.
Congratulations also to Jim Schrader who received his 25 year membership certificate. The club has only one member who has been a member longer than Jim. Well Done!
Coach trip
Recently the Probus Club of Seaford experienced a fantastic coach trip, rated by some as the best ever ... high praise indeed.
Members headed off for the Yarra Glen Chocolaterie and Icecreamery.
Much indulgence was had of the great variety of chocolates of all flavours. The creative packaging, some with local artwork, was a great attraction for gifts. The ice creams were excellent (and huge) and members were able to watch the activity in the factory section through the glass.
The group then moved to Yarra Glen Village for a wander and lunch for anyone who had space after their earlier indulgences. It was a lovely quiet place with many choices for a meal, cuppa or quick snack as well as a bit of retail therapy.
To cap off the day, members visited the beautiful Alowyn Gardens, also at Yarra Glen. These gardens, that won the ABC Garden of the Year in 2008, cover four acres.
There are a number of display areas, some with neatly trimmed perennial borders. The wisteria and rose covered archway with a sunken garden and beautiful fountain in the centre was a real feature. Many colourful flowers were at their very best.
Afternoon tea was served in the gardens and some members headed home with vegetables freshly picked from the gardens.
