Milestone 30 for Upper Yarra
23 Oct 2013
A milestone was reached when the Probus Club of Upper Yarra celebrated thirty years since the club was formed in 1983.
More than 80 members and past members were present at a luncheon held at Two Brookes Bar in Seville East.
Special guests present were, the Mayor of Yarra Ranges Shire Jim Childs, Federal M.P. Brad Batten, State M.P. Tony Smith. Also present was Tony Hill the Probus representative from Rotary District 9810 who offered congratulations and spoke of the rarity of clubs who achieve this age as he presented a certificate to President Alan Holman.
Fourteen past presidents of the club were present.
During the afternoon a video presentation was shown of past activities. The club, which started as a men’s club, has always been very friendly and enthusiastic, and since admitting lady members in 2010 has become even stronger with many more regular activities.
Membership is approximately 100 at present.
