Fish 'n' Chips on the Clyde outing held on 17th October 2024
A glorious day spent travelling down to Batemans Bay. After boarding the vessel and enjoying delicious fish and chips,
we travelled up the River Clyde to Nelligen for a walk and icecream for the lucky ones. Then back home to Canberra.

On the 25th September, Bob Maroney volunteered his time on the Probus South Pacific stall at the Better Ageing Expo held at the Old Bus Depot in Kingston, ACT. It was a successful day with the Canberra and District Probus Association co-ordinating on the day.
JULY 2024 - Bleak Mid-Winter
Hibernation is the name of the game in Canberra in July. A Christmas lunch was enjoyed at the Gungahlin Lakes Golf Club (without a photographer present). Lunch was enjoyed following the Committee's July meeting at The Statesman Hotel. Fortunately we did have a photographer present, thank you Roger Tomlins.

APRIL 2024 - A busy month!
Following a delicious lunch at Baitong in Cooleman, the next day a group of members arrived in the Arboretum to experience the delightful walk through the Cork Oak Plantation walking track. The walk was followed by morning tea at the Visitor Centre where we were joined by Karla and Michael Storrs. It was a very enjoyable morning.

The Club's next outing in April was a self-drive trip to Braidwood for a tour of the Museum and lunch at Provisions Creperie. All who attended enjoyed a beautiful sunny day in the small Heritage township, with some targetted purchases secured before heading home again.

2023 ANNUAL CHRISTMAS LUNCH
On the 7th December 2023, 70 members and guests joined together to celebrate Christmas in the auditorium of the Deakin Football Club. With good food, lots of "lucky door prizes" and the occasional glass of wine or "bubbly", a happy time was had by all.
30TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
On the 7th October 2023, The Combined Probus Club of Woden-Weston Creek (formerly Cooleman) celebrated their 30th birthday. To commemorate the occasion, The Club held a free sausage sizzle in Weston Park (south of Canberra CBD) by Lake Burley Griffin.
The club has held several BBQs in the past few years, so our “masters of the hotplate” are becoming very adept at providing members with quality well-cooked sausages and onions. This year a home-made cake was available for members to enjoy. Sadly, it was too windy for candles.
A special event was held to coincide with the Club’s birthday. After 30 years of publication, our newsletter now has a name. Members were asked to put forward their suggestions which were voted on by a panel of four judges. The winning entry, submitted by Roger Tomlins (to be inducted as a member in November 2023), is “News Nook”. Roger contributed to the final format of the name for Issue No. 328.
