Presidents Report for March Robin Hearder
The great news is that thanks to Carolynne Roach stepping up to take on being the Committee convenor of Social Events, which has released Helen Taylor to be our new President, and Helen has accepted the nomination. Congratulations to both members ! All we need now is for someone to be the new Secretary at the AGM on Tuesday 26th March. I thought I would share a Committee Obituary with you -
“I know that you will all be saddened to learn of the passing of one of our Club’s most valuable members – Someone Else.
Someone’s passing has created a vacancy that will be extremely difficult to fill. Else has been with us for several years, and for every one of those years, Someone did far more than the normal person’s share of the work. Whenever leadership was mentioned, this wonderful person was looked to for inspiration as well as results.
Whenever there was a job to do, one name was on everyone’s lips, “Let Someone Else do it “. Everybody just assumed that someone else would make up the difference."
So what can YOU do to help our Club? We also need an Assistant Secretary to help the Secretary . Without members filling these 2 posts we cannot function as a Club , and it would be tragic if we had to close.
Membership figures remain strong and we will induct Coralie Carr and Judy Bayliss at the AGM. However the Committee will limit our numbers to 120, and if necessary open a Waiting List.
Many thanks again to Wendy McRobie and her team for organizing a wonderful Champagne Brunch at Toowoon Bay Park on Tuesday 5th March with Champers, juice, crackly bacon, eggs, sausages, mushrooms, marinated tomatoes, hash brown and lovely stewed plums as dessert.
Thanks also to Paul Denney of Raine & Horne, Killarney Vale for his sponsorship.
We have the enjoyable Riverboat Postman’s trip & lunch coming up on Sunday 24th March, and the lunch & entertainment at Canton Beach Sports Club on Thursday 4th April. There are also some theatre shows being organised for you over the next few months for you to consider.
For all members who enjoyed reading books please remember to bring used books along for our Book Swap Table.

BBQ REPORT – Wendy McRobie Another lovely morning for the champagne brunch. 48 members paid, but 3 were struck down with the dreaded covid and could not attend on the day. Members appeared to enjoy the brunch selection and I am pleased to say that there was nothing left at the end of the day…….yippee! Thanks to Jenny & amp; Tom for the trivia, & we sang birthday wishes to Irene Brannigan & John Gretch. Paul Denny and Jordon dropped by to say hello, and offered to cover the cost of the drinks. Thanks to Raine & Horne Killarney Vale for this ongoing support and use of their gazebo at our events. Many thanks to all who assisted on the day……Rod, Robyn, Helen, Stan, Jenny D, Lynne B, Margaret M, Julie B, David McR, Tom, Col H, Robin, Paul K,……..couldn’t do it without you guys & you’re always so gracious and obliging to work with. A special thanks to Elizabeth McKew, who very unobtrusively, did some cleaning work on the BBQ’s. Our next event in May is the Mamma Mia HIGH Tea….celebrating all our lovely Probus Ladies. May 7 th , Toowoon Bay Park, 11am…..different, but definitely delicious! I will be collecting money for this ($15 pp) at the April meeting (23/4).
