Activities – What the Club provides:
Book Club – Monthly meeting providing some lively discussions in a friendly and social environment.
Coffee Walks - Every Tuesday, a short, easy walk is undertaken within the Shire, followed by morning tea at a nearby Cafe. Non-walking Members are encouraged to join the Group for the social get together at morning tea.
Day Trips - As the name implies, are the arrangement of tours, trips and journeys to places of interest which are completed in one day. The trips may be on mini buses or by public transport. Lunch and morning tea are usually a part of these days out and are either included in the cost or are at your own expense.
Extended Tours - Each year, an endeavour is made to provide our Members with the opportunity to participate in a reasonably priced, fully escorted holiday of usually for 5/6 nights duration, travelling in a fully air-conditioned coach, but on occasions other means of transport may be used eg., cruises and country trains. Past trips have included the Snowy Mountains, Parkes, Young and Moree.
Golf - Our golfing members come together generally for an early start every Friday for a round at the Kareela Golf Course. This is followed by a gathering at the 19th hole to catch-up on social news. Our Club joins with other Probians from the Sutherland Shire in the Combined Probus Club Golf Event.
Guest Speakers – When arranging for a Guest Speaker we try to obtain a person or persons who will be of interest to our members. Their subject could be Professional, Historical, Medical, of Personal Experience, and in some cases, very amusing. The most important guide line is to obtain a speaker who will ensure our members/guests are interested and enlightened.
Dining - we meet on a monthly basis and enjoy good food at reasonable prices. We strive to offer a variety of dining options – Clubs, Restaurants, Picnics, Barbeques, High Teas, and of course, special occasions such as Christmas in July and Christmas Parties.
Library & DVD's – We have a large selection of books which are available to borrow, read and return. Donations of good books are always welcome. We also have a member's DVD Club with a choice of over 200 DVDs. To join, lend us two or more from your library and you can borrow two DVDs each month and return them at next meeting.
Craft. Bring along any "Unfinished Objects" eg., crotcheting, embroidery, patchwork, etc to be completed or learn a new skill.
Walkers & Talkers – If you like walking, accompanied by a good chat, our walkers & talkers group set out each fourth Friday of the month, from February through to November. These fun and highly informative walks vary in length, location, historic value and interest.
After Meeting Luncheons - Once a month at Gymea Bowls.
