Committee’s Message: Hello and a very warm welcome to members & to our guests, who we hope will join us in this exciting new venture.
Our club has now been active for 12 months in Port Kembla, bringing together semi-retired or retired locals for social enjoyment and community connection.
Our committee was elected in November 2024 and began our first meeting in January 2025. We held monthly meetings at the church hall until the time came to seek a new venue. From the very beginning, our vision was to make use of facilities around the Port Kembla area—whether gathering in local cafés, restaurants, or clubs, we enjoyed discovering new places along the way. All members helped with letter box drops with our flyers and advertising in as many places in the local surrounds.
This year, we were delighted when the library welcomed us as our new meeting space. It has been a wonderful venue for our monthly get-togethers and presentations, including Peter Moran’s fascinating talk on the History of Port Kembla and Amelia Murray’s engaging session on Trade Travel.
I would like to sincerely thank our committee for the dedication and achievements over the past 12 months. Your efforts have strengthened our club and created a welcoming community. Looking ahead to 2026, I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and the new members who will join us.
Our Meetings are held at Warrawong Library https://share.google/SLnGPzzirYD8whKEd, then relaunching the group on 24 February 2026, hosting our meetings, guest speakers, and future events.
Monthly meetings have showcased some amazing guest speakers to date. It is certainly an exciting time being involved in the formation of a new Probus club in the area. Activity groups, short day trips, long day trips, overnight and extended trips are all being researched.
Rest assured there is no fundraising and no politics – just like-minded people enjoying retirement or semi-retirement.
