The Probus Club of Nepean Inc. was formed by the Rotary Club of South Penrith in 1994.
In the early months of 1994 a notice appeared in the Penrith Press newspaper advising readers that the Rotary Club of South Penrith was planning an Interest Meeting to determine the possibility of forming a PROBUS Club. The meeting was to be conducted at the Edinglassie Retirement Village, Emu Plains during the month of April.
South Penrith Rotary Club registered the PROBUS CLUB OF NEPEAN, on 22nd June 1994 with 20 foundation members. A meeting on 27 July 1994 elected the first committee which decided to conduct meetings on the first Wednesday of each month. The first committee meeting was held on 23 August 1994.
Initial meetings were held within the Edinglassie Retirement complex. As numbers grew, meetings moved into the Uniting Church Fellowship and Worship Centre Emu Plains. Due to demolition of the Edinglasssie complex the club members voted unanimously in November 2018 to meet at Emu Plains Sports Club 1 Leonay Parade, Leonay. The first meeting took place in the new venue on 2nd January 2019.
At present there are 121 members, 2 Honorary Members and 4 Life Members.
The club has produced history booklets for each five years of the club's existence.
