The Club provides a full calendar of events, walks, movie afternoons, lunches, travel opportunities and activities for members. Our December meeting takes the form of a Christmas lunch.

Activities are advertised through the general meetings, the newsletter and this website. In all of the Club’s activities, we are mindful of cost. The committee works hard to organise different and exciting activities.  

2025 

Thursday 22 May: Tour of NSW Parliament House in Macquarie Street, Sydney at 11am.

We will meet at 11:00am outside the NSW Parliament House security entrance on Macquarie Street. This allows time for security screening, entering Parliament House foyer and getting to the tour meeting place. The free 1 hour guided tour includes 30 minutes in the Legislative Assembly chamber and the Legislative Council chamber, respectively.

After the tour, we will go to the Long Bell Café in Parliament House where we will be able to purchase our own lunch. Sandwiches, wraps, salads, light meals (eg, fish and chips) and cakes are available.

To get to Parliament House, suggest taking the ferry from Mosman Bay to Circular Quay then walk to the nearby last bus stop at the eastern end of the Quay and take a bus to the Hunter Street stop at Chifley Square. From there, walk one block up Hunter St to Macquarie St and cross to the NSW Parliament House.

Alternatively take the Metro to Martin Place Station. Take the Martin Place or Elizabeth Street exit and walk up Martin Place to Macquarie Street and cross to the NSW Parliament House.

 

Friday 13 June: Tour of Lucas Heights Discovery Centre (ANSTO) by OnCourse Tours.

Travel will be by a luxury coach departing the Mosman Club at 8:15am & returning at 5:30pm. The Australian Nuclear Science &Technology Organisation (ANSTO) is one of Australia’s largest public research organisations with over 350 scientists and researchers. ANSTO is home to some of Australia’s critical scientific infrastructure including the nation’s only research reactor, a suite of neutron beam instruments, particle accelerators, cyclotrons and the Australian Synchroton Education officers leading the tour will explain how knowledge of the basic building blocks of our universe is being used to solve the big issues

surrounding health, climate change and innovation for industry. Our tour will be customised to include non-technical explanations and minimal walking. Following the tour lunch will be provided at the ANSTO Foliage Kitchen and Café. During our return trip we will stop at the Hazelhurst Arts Centre, a major public gallery that presents a diverse program of contemporary and significant historical Australian art. The Centre is surrounded by 1.4 hectares of garden.

The cost of $100 per person includes coach transport, guided tour, morning tea, a sandwich lunch with barista tea/coffee.

 

29th & 30th July: Winter Yulefest In Bathurst with Pittwater Probus Club.

Pittwater Probus Club is providing the opportunity to join their 2 day Yuletide experience. Highlights include Mt Panorama Racing Circuit & National Racing Museum, the National Trust classified Court House, Boer War Memorial & Ben Chifley’s cottage. The package includes travel, morning tea, 2 lunches, a 3 course Yuletide dinner & accommodation. Costs will be between $605 - $625 pp twin share. 18 – 23 September: 6-day OnCourse Bellingen Gourmet Adventure

The tour explores the wine and dining experiences of the Hunter Valley. and the sustainable, artisan food culture of Bellingen and Dorrigo.

Accommodation will include one night at The Mercure Resort Hunter Valley, three nights at the Lookout Mountain Retreat Dorrigo with the final night at Rydges, Port Macquarie.

Cost is $2,290 per person twin share. Single supplement is $440. Costs include all meals, admissions and luxury coach transport. A discount has been offered for everyone being picked up from the one place eg Mosman Club. Probus will take names at this stage and will provide your details to OnCourse. Thursday 10 April: Visit the Nan Tien Temple in Wollongong. 

Travel will be by a luxury coach departing the Mosman Club at 8:30am & returning at 5pm. We will stop for morning tea at Sublime Point before travelling to the Nan Tien Temple. On arrival at the Temple, we will hear about the principles of the religion and have a guided tour of the shrines and pagoda that make up Nan Tien. The Temple was built at a cost of $30 million with donations from the Buddhist Community. It is set on 50 acres with beautiful gardens.

Lunch will be a choice of 3 vegetarian dishes and noodles prepared by the chefs in the famous Nan Tien Temple kitchen. After lunch we will have the opportunity to try Tai Chi, a Chinese martial art known for its defence training, health benefits and meditation. Upon leaving the Temple, there will be a brief tour of beautiful beaches and harbour of the Wollongong district. The return home will be via the Seacliff Bridge and the Illawarra Coast Road.

The cost of $80 per person includes coach transport, morning tea, lunch, admission to the temple and the Tai Chi lesson

 

Saturday 15th March:  St Patrick's Day Dinner and concert at Northbridge Golf Club

 Thursday 20th March: Visit to NSW State Library in Macquarie Street (adjacent to Parliament House on Circular Quay side). Art exhibition of Peter Kingston’s works - many of the Sydney Harbour area. Also a history of German refugees, who were sent from the UK (where they had sought refuge at the start of WW11) to Australia on the ship Dunera to several refugee camps for the course of WWII.
