MILLICENT PROBUS NEWS
A MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT ALAN.
G’day Probus Members,
New Covid restrictions have been issued for meetings which means our August
meeting this coming Tuesday can go ahead. Yippee!
We can have up to 47 members now, but we do have to wear masks except when
we are having morning tea. Our Guest Speaker can also take off their mask while
they are speaking.
The following Tuesday, the 24th, we have another Morning Melodies at the Sir
Robert Helpmann Theatre. This time it is Roy Best an Australian Tenor & Alison
Jones an International Soprano singing operatic type hits of the Big Three –
Pavarotti, Domingo & Carreras, with commentary in between. Six or more people
command seats at $21 each, and we have 8 starters now. If anyone would like to
join us I will need to know this Tuesday & get the money please.
The 1st of October is Probus Day in Australia & The Probus Club of Mt Gambier is
organizing a day of celebration in Mt Gambier to which members of local Clubs
have been invited – that is 5 Clubs from Mt Gambier, also Pt McDonald, Penola &
the 2 Clubs from Millicent. I would like to get an expression of interest from
members (and guests) about joining in the celebrations at a cost of about $25 for
morning tea & lunch. More details to be supplied after their next meeting on
Wednesday.
Once the weather improves, we could start planning a casual meeting in the park for a BBQ & chat as a means of getting out into the sunshine. I believe we will get some of that soon. If anyone has ideas along those lines, let us know.
