Lunches at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club after Probus Meetings:Sandwiches, coffee/tea and a glass of wine, in a private function room, for a fixed charge of $20 which will be collected when you arrive at the Meeting. Our March excursion is a GUIDED TOUR of the ROYAL EXHIBITION BUILDING on 18th March at 1130am. The tour willhighlightthemagnificence of this historic building and its wonderful history. The Building was recently awarded World Heritage listing. The interior has been restored to its original Victorian splendour, including the murals, skylight windows andfiligree painting on the rafterscomplimented with original style gas lights (now electric). The dome roof is being restored for access to the building roof anddome lookout,both of which aredue to open later this year. Built in 1879 for Melbourne’s first international exhibition, the building was chosen as the venue for the opening of the first Commonwealth Parliament of Australia on 9th May 1901. Experience the life, stories &affections ofmillions of people that have contributed to this National icon. The venue is easy to reach by public transport, and car parking is available underthe building, with car entry fromNicholson or Rathdowne Streets. Lunch (at individual cost) will be in a nearby historical hotel.
