Following lunch at Cafe 63, 13 members and guests saw the final matinee production of OZ by the Village Green Theatre Group at Yarrabilba Secondary College. It was a great performance. The costumes, cast and music were wonderful. Looking forward to the group's productions in 2026.

On a glorious September day, 30 members and guests saw dozens of whales, including mother and calf pairs, aboard the Spirit of the Gold Coast's Whale Watching Cruise from the Southport Spit. Fellowship continued afterwards with lunch at the Sunset Bar and Grill, while some members made the most of dress shop sales and had some retail therapy.
Movie Screening - 14th September
Members supported the Rotary Club of Loganholme's Christmas Hamper Fundraiser at Event Cinemas Loganholme to see Downton Abbey, the Grand Finale. Fellowship continued at The Beach House afterwards for dinner.
Stargazing - 29th August
Thanks to the Scenic Rim Astronomy Association for bringing along their telescopes for members and guests to do a night of stargazing at Malling Park, Buccan. It was a beautiful clear night and we saw craters on the Moon, Neptune, Saturn, Mars and lots of stars. Damper on a stick and toasted marshmallows rounded out the evening.
Lady Brisbane - Bremer River Junction Cruise - 22nd August
42 members and guests cruised from Hamilton Wharf along the Brisbane River to Moggill Ferry. We passed some beautiful mansions and stunning Brisbane Icons. Morning/afternoon tea and a barbecue lunch were provided. We also got the chance to meet members from the Taringa Probus Club who were on board the same cruise.
Queensland Maritime Museum - 31st July
Some of our members went on a tour of the Queensland Maritime Museum, followed by lunch at the Ship Inn, Southbank. Lots of history and well worth a visit. The museum is a bit like the Tardis - Bigger on the Inside.
Jesus Christ Superstar - 23rd July
Members and guests attended a matinee performance of Jesus Christ Superstar at the Lyric Theatre, Queenslandn Performing Arts Centre.
Folded Book Angels Workshop - 18th July
Members gathered at Yarrabilba to make folded book angels out of recycled books. Lots of fun and laughter was had by all with some pretty awesome angels to take home.
Village Green Theatre - 12th July
Following lunch at Cafe 63 at Yarrabilba, 26 members saw the matinee performance of the Village Green Theatre Group's production of Elvis Has Left the Building at Yarrabilba State High School on 12th July.
Extended Trip to Gympie - 4th - 6th July
10 members from Beenleigh, Park Ridge, Beaudesert and Cornubia Probus Clubs joined 23 members from Logan Village on our first extended trip away to Gympie from 4th to 6th July.
After a very early (and chilly) start on the Friday, first stop was the Buderim Ginger Factory at Yandina for morning tea of scones jam & cream and a tour, followed by a tasting of ginger products.
Next stop was the Gympie Gold Mining Historical Museum for lunch and a tour. James Nash discovered gold in Gympie in 1867 that started a rush to the Gympie goldfields, which eventually yielded over £14 million worth. Gympie became known as the “town that saved Queensland”.
Final stop for the day before checking into our motel was the Gympie Woodworks Museum.
On the Saturday, we attended the bi-annual Rotary Heritage Makers Fair at the Gympie Showgrounds where there was an assortment of heritage trades on display such as coopers, a wheelwright, blacksmiths, tinsmiths, jewellers, etc. We were joined by 9 members of the Gympie Probus Club for a buffet dinner on the Saturday night at the Great Eastern Motor Inn.
After we bid farewell to the Great Eastern Motor Inn, we climbed aboard the Mary Valley Rattler for a 3 hour, 40 km journey in a beautifully restored C17 steam train through the rich agricultural farmland in the Mary Valley to Amamoor and Dagun followed by lunch on the station platform
Our last stop before heading home was a cheese tasting at Kenilworth Dairies. There was lots of fun and fellowship had during the weekend and new friendships made. A big thank you to Eugene from Granite Highland Maxi Tours for looking after us. I wonder where the next extended adventure will take us?
Esk Garden & Lifestyle Fair - 21st June
34 members had an early start on Saturday 21st June to go to the Esk Garden & Lifestyle Fair. There was certainly an interesting array of plants, pots, clothes, and other wonders that joined us in the bus on the way back to Logan Village.
Back to the Tivoli - 10th June
28 members had their first “interstate” trip on 10th June travelling across the border to NSW to Twin Towns Services Club at Tweed Heads to see Back to the Tivoli.
Performers included the stunningly talented multi award winning instrumentalist, Danny Elliot, who wowed the audience playing an assortment of instruments. Tenor, Paul Gulinello, and vocalist, Sharna Le-Grand, entertained us with some contemporary and modern songs.
Magician, Adrian Dean, unfortunately was not able to perform as he was unwell. We were, however, absolutely delighted to be entertained by Australia’s best stand-up ventriloquist, Darren Carr who had the audience in stitches with his fill in magic show.
Biggest Morning Tea - 22nd May
12 members attended the Logan Village and Districts Community Centre's Biggest Morning Tea on 22nd May. Congratulations to our members who won a swag of raffle prizes. The Biggest Morning Tea helped raise life-saving funds for the Council Council to assist almost 1 in 2 Australians impacted by cancer. According to the Cancer Council's website, as of 28th May, $7,832,118 had been raised across Australia.
Maleny & the Glasshouse Mountains - 13th May
26 members ventured to Maleny for a day trip on 13th May. The weather forecast was a bit ominous, but it ended up being fine all day, so someone was indeed looking out for us.
First stop was Mountainview Café for scones, jam and cream for morning tea, followed by a wander through the beautiful, serene rainforest at Mary Cairncross Reserve. The view from the café overlooking the Glasshouse Mountains was awesome.
We then had a wander up and down Maple Street, Maleny’s main street, to check out the shops and have some lunch. Members took the opportunity to stock up on chocolate coated goji berries and pumpkin seeds, as well as other tasty snacks from Source Bulk Foods.
And lastly, we visited Maleny Cheese for a yoghurt tasting which included vanilla, mixed berries and ginger. The ginger appeared to be the outright favourite.
Stocked up with delectable delights to take home and having achieved a good number of steps for the day, we all boarded the bus to head back to Logan Village. The challenge at the beginning of the day was to make a new friend and I think that was well and truly achieved by those members who attended. A fun day was had by all.
Promotional Stand at Logan Village Neighbour Day - 13th April
When we get the opportunity to spread the word about Probus, it’s not just to prospective members, but to organisations within our community. Making connections with businesses, community groups and others can lead to beneficial outcomes for all concerned.
We had a promotional stand at Neighbour Day on 13th April in the Village Green where we spoke to a number of prospective members about what we do and handed out some bags.
We also made some excellent connections with other community organisations.
A great day promoting Probus and establishing networks within our local community. Fun, friendship and fellowship.
